How to record your FPS (frames per second) in any game for FREE

  1. Download FRAPS ( fraps.com ), it's free for this purpose

  2. Set it up as in the following screenshot...

  1. Set a folder to save your benchmarks in (mine is E:\Benchmarks, yours will vary)
  2. Set a benchmarking hotkey not used by your game and remember it
  3. Set a reasonable benchmark duration (600 seconds = 10 minutes)
  4. Make sure your overlay corner is set, and not set to "Hide overlay" if you want to see your FPS in-game
  5. Start your game
  6. Press your Benchmarking hotkey (your FPS will disappear from screen, this means that it's benchmarking)
  7. When your benchmarking duration has passed and you are done playing, exit the game
  8. Browse to your benchmarks folder (mine was E:\Benchmarks, again, yours will vary)
  9. You'll be greeted by a CSV file. If you don't have a spreadsheet program (Excel) you can open it in Notepad.
  10. The last number in the second row is your average FPS.
