Should students be allowed to "Concealed Carry" on campus?

I always knew that guns were forbidden from elementary schools, but I never thought about higher education until recently. With a history of gun violence in schools and no immediate means to prevent it, I would think that allowing Conceal Carry on (especially) college campuses would be a logical step toward preventing future disasters.

Why hasn't this already been widely discussed? Why hasn't it happened? (Or do some schools allow conceal carry on campus?)

Certainly, with proper training... Perhaps require a concealed carry license and also an additional special license specifically for concealed carry on campuses that involves additional, specialized training.
