What is tagg.im?

tagg.im is a collection of open, community moderated forums.

Anyone can contribute nearly anything to tagg.im and everything on tagg.im is moderated by our community (that would be you).

There is no shortlist of allowed topics, there are no objectivity/subjectivity rules, and there are no authoritarian moderators.

What is a tagg?

Taggs are relevant keywords and phrases to help organize discussions on tagg.im.

Taggs can be as broad or as specific you'd like. For example, a discussion about beautiful lily pads could be tagged with gardening, aquatic-gardening, frogs, and of course, lily pads.

Feel free to explore the most popular taggs, or continue reading to learn how to create your own forum using taggs.

How do I create my own forum?

Simply start a thread and tagg it with appropriate keywords.

For example, if you were to start a thread about your new German Shepherd puppy, and tagg it with pets, dogs and german-shepherds, you would have just created three forums: the "Pets Forum", the "Dogs Forum", and the "German Shepherds Forum."

Your thread will appear in each forum that you tagg it with. In the above example, your thread about your beloved German Shepherd could be found by people interested in either Pets, Dogs, or specifically German Shepherds.

How does voting work?

Each comment on tagg.im has a score that influences its popularity. You can influence the score by voting the comment up or down.

Registered users have an advantage: they can accumulate voting power and earn the right to cast more votes.

How do I increase my voting power?

Participation is rewarded by the community:

  1. Each time your comments are voted up, you gain a point.
  2. As you accumulate points, the number of votes you can cast on a single comment increases.
  3. You can only gain points (never lose them), even if some of your comments are voted down.

The number of votes you can cast is based on the number of points you have.

The following table illustrates the number of points required to cast a certain number of votes:

Points = Votes
0 = 1 vote
10 = 2 votes
100 = 3 votes
1,000 = 4 votes
10,000 = 5 votes
100,000 = etc

Do my points earn me anything else?

In addition to voting power, several moderator-like features become unlocked as you accumulate points:

Points = Feature
100 = Flag comments as inappropriate
1000 = Add additional taggs to other user's threads
10,000 = Retagg other user's threads
100,000 = Edit other user's comments, wiki-style
